Propane
Natural gas to propane, and back
Most gas appliances are built for one fuel and can change to the other only with a kit from their maker. That is the first thing we check.
Read the rating plate
The plate and the manual say whether the maker supplies a conversion kit for that model. If there is no kit, we tell you before you spend anything.
Fit the maker's kit
The kit swaps the burner orifices and, where the instructions say so, changes or sets the appliance's regulator. We fit it to the maker's instructions.
Check the line
A propane supply runs at a different pressure from a natural gas one. We test the house line, and the line from the tank, before the appliance is lit.
Light and check the flame
We light every burner, check the flame and leave the old parts and the manual with you in case you convert back.

Questions
Conversion questions
Can any range be converted to propane?
No. It has to be one the maker lets you convert, with a kit made for that model. The rating plate or the manual says.
Who puts the propane tank in?
The propane supplier sets and fills the tank. We run the line from the tank to the house and test it.
Do I need a new regulator?
Sometimes. The conversion instructions say whether the appliance's own regulator is changed or set. We follow them.
Can I go back to natural gas later?
Usually, with the natural gas kit for the same model. Keep the kit parts and the manual from the first conversion.
Not sure your appliance can convert?
Text a photo of its rating plate and we will tell you if a kit exists.
