Questions

Questions about gas work

What do I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house, leave the door open and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Don't use a switch, a lighter or a phone inside. Call us after the utility has cleared the house.

How do I know a gas fitter is licensed?

Ask for the license number and look it up with the state board. Ours is in the footer of every page, with the board that issued it.

What does a visit cost, and what does it include?

The visit has a set fee, told to you on the phone before we book. A fitter looks at the run, checks the appliance's rating plate and writes the price. The fee comes off the work if you hire us.

Will I get a price before you start?

Yes, in writing, before the first cut. We don't quote a new line over the phone.

Do you pull permits?

Where the city requires one for the work, yes. It is part of the written price.

How long does a hook-up take?

A hook-up on a gas stub that is already there is usually a short visit. A new line through walls or across a yard takes a day or more. We tell you which after we have seen it.

Do you replace the old flexible connector?

Yes, on every hook-up. An old connector is not reused. The new one is on the price.

What is a pressure test?

We close the line off, put test pressure on it and watch a gauge. If the needle holds, the line holds. Only then is the appliance lit.

Can you convert my range to propane?

If the maker supplies a conversion kit for that model, yes. If there is no kit, we tell you before you spend anything.

Do you work on generators?

We run and test the gas line to a standby generator. The transfer switch and the wiring are an electrician's work.

Do you work on furnaces or water heaters?

We run and connect the gas piping to them. We don't service the appliance itself or its venting.

Is there a night or weekend charge?

No, because we don't work nights. We are open Saturday mornings, as in the footer. A gas smell is for 911 or the gas utility.

Which towns do you serve?

Oklahoma City and the towns around it, listed on the home page. If yours is not there, call and ask.

What happens if the test shows a leak?

We find it, fix it and test again. We don't light the appliance or reopen the gas until the gauge holds.

A question we didn't answer?

Call or send the details. A person reads every message.
